Citrix XenDesktop VDA 7.6 – getting remote PC session hangs from time to time in browser window?

From scanning the forums came across this issue where user was experiencing hangs in their browser window in existing tabs.

Fix was identified as enabling the use of software rendering instead of GPU rendering and restarting your browser as per:

PS as a side note not sure if Citrix intended it but looks like the CTX article has recently been updated and is slightly skewed from a formatting perspective (also links itself which is a bit confusing).

Having PVS vDisk conversion troubles? Check you don’t have hidden NIC’s

As per recently was doing a vDisk conversion and was greeted with the message:

“BNIStack failed, network stack could not be initialized”. Fix (tx to good old google again) found via:

This is one of these types of scenarios that you tend to get from time to time but forget what the fix is – must of done this 3/4 times now on different conversions so handy to remember to check your NIC’s!

Issues with Xenapp hangs and the Citrix telemetry service

The above service is a recent addition in the Xenapp world and relates to the Call home technology service that Citrix have set up. Indeed will see the “call home” option during installation of the later releases of Xenapp that have come online (7.8,7.9 and 7.11 at time of writing)

XenApp and XenDesktop Call Home Technology

One thing that does seem to have popped up particularly in PVS and MCS environments that on occasion issues can occur relating to this service – see related thread:

So something to keep an eye on if not needed best to disable the service.

Having trouble propagating changes in your StoreFront Server groups?

Recently one of the servers in our Storefront Server groups came a cropper when we tried to propagate changes to it.

Could see the following in the event logs at time of failure :

An error has occurred during the all server configuration update process.

“Citrix.DeliveryServices.ConfigurationReplication.Exceptions.ServerUpdateConfigurationException, Citrix.DeliveryServices.ConfigurationReplication, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e8bb6749cfa2a5a3
Access is denied.
RemoteEndpoint: net.tcp://servernameCitrix/ConfigurationReplication”

From a scour through the trusty internet found the following solution:

i) Add the following accounts to the local administrators group

NT SERVICE\CitrixConfigurationReplication

and NT SERVICE\CitrixClusterService

ii) Restart Storefront server

And voila all is good with the world
